Team History

Our team was founded in 2008 by local FRC team, #1533 Triple Strange. In
our first year, we were known as C.Y.B.E.R., sported green and black colors,
and had a cool little car for our logo. Also, this inaugural year our coach
allowed us to use his house for meeting a machining space. The whole season
was a huge learning experience and our team was proud that we were able to
complete the robot and participate at the Peachtree Regional in Georgia.

2009 brought significant growth. We gained members and a machine shop,
Blue Ridge Tool. BRT was very generous to us, allowing us to
use space, machines, scrap materials, and storage. The team was
able to learn about and use different types of machinery. By the end of the build
season we had a great new robot and were ready to compete. Arriving at the
Peachtree Regional for the second year, we were excited to see how our robot
would do. To our great surprise, by the end of the first day of qualifiers, our team
was seeded 2nd and, even though by the end of qualifiers we dropped to 8th seed,
we were happy with our progress. After picking our alliance partners, we
continued in to the eliminations and beat the 1st and 7th placed seeds, and made it to
the finals. Amazingly, we won!
Thank you Teams #832 and #2415 for being great alliance partners!
In addition to our win at Peachtree, we also won the website excellence award and
successfully applied and were approved for non-profit status which allows our
team greater ability to fundraise.
