2010 Game
The 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition game, Breakaway, is similar to soccer.
In alliances of three teams, robots compete in two groups to score points by getting
regulation soccer balls into four corner goals. But the game designers did not leave it
at that. Instead, they shook up the game by placing three large bumps in the field,
making it harder for teams to drive. To avoid the bumps, robots have to drive over and
under them. In the last twenty seconds of the match, robots can climb onto towers
located on top of the bumps to earn more points.
Each year FIRST and NASA release an animation which allows teams and
any other interested party to better understand the game.
